Meet the Owners

Summer Baker, M.S., CCC-SLP

Founder & CEO

Summer Baker opened Small Talk Therapy with her husband Stephen in 2015 with one big goal: to create a warm, welcoming place where children and adults could get the therapy they need to thrive. She’s been a speech-language pathologist since 2005 and is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Summer attended CSU-Fresno for her Bachelor of Science degree and CSU-Northridge for her master’s degree in communication sciences & disorders. She also has special training in the SOS Approach to Feeding, PECS, Feed the Peds, and she’s worked with patients of all ages on everything from articulation and stuttering to Autism, swallowing difficulties, and more. Before starting her own practice, she spent 16 years in public schools helping kids and their families.

When she’s not in the clinic, Summer enjoys traveling, camping, and spending time with her husband, their four kids, and their poodle.

Stephen Baker, M.S., CCC-SLP

Co-Founder & CFO

Stephen Baker co-founded Small Talk Therapy alongside his wife Summer in 2015. He started out with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, but he was inspired by Summer’s work and decided to become a speech-language pathologist himself. He went back to school for his master’s in communication sciences & disorders at CSU-Northridge. He’s now an ASHA-certified SLP with experience in private practice, hospitals, and schools.

Stephen works with patients from newborns to adults, treating speech, language, voice, hearing, and swallowing challenges. He’s especially passionate about helping people regain their skills after a stroke, brain injury, or cancer treatment.

Outside of work, Stephen loves camping, traveling, and making memories with his family.
